Standard valuation being multiples of historic profit and the BCMS approach which is create a maker for buyers of your business and most of all make the benefits of buying obvious on the buyer's terms of interest. Either way it all boils down to what someone will pay for the benefits THEY perceive. I'm interested to hear more

Well it's not that they gave a new formula , but a different approach. In cliches I would say
Throw the net wide
Don't burn your bridges
Look forward not back

I am having a follow up call tommorrow with BCMS to see how they work with accountants

Nice summary Simon. I'm pleased that you found the time useful. How will the information you gained from the day affect the valuation advice you give your clients?

Thank you for the confidence in cloud based accounting. We experience very often that people are reluctant to move the books to the cloud. And the security issues? Well, I think that the threat of pouring hot coffee over the office/home computer is still bigger than attacks on or failure of data mirrored several times on different physical locations...
I work for E-conomic Ltd., we have never been an install package software but we sure see how internet access to the clients' books is a DREAM for accountants. It redefines accounting both for accountants but most significantly for small businesses.

Thanks for the mention. Run by Barclays, the 'DYBF' have been immensely successful. Did you see the general event aimed at businesses or the one specifically aimed at accountants and professional service firms?

Regards

Robert
